U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has appointed Stuart Timerman to serve as director of the Defense Spectrum Organization at the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), the Pentagon announced Nov. 2.

The Defense Spectrum Organization is responsible for managing the use of electromagnetic spectrum for the Pentagonโ€™s wireless capabilities, including satellite communications, radar and navigation systems. Timerman previously served as the director of the Armyโ€™s spectrum management office.

Gates also appointed Alan Lewis as the vice director for computing services at DISA and Nathan Maenle as the vice chief information officer at DISA.
