China successfully launched a remote sensing satellite Aug. 10 from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern Shanxi province aboard a Long March 4C rocket, the state-controlled Xinhua news agency reported.

The Yaogan 10 satellite will be used for scientific experiments, crop monitoring, resource mapping and disaster mitigation, Xinhua said. The satelliteโ€™s predecessor, Yaogan 9, was launched in March from the Jiquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwestern Gansu province, the news agency said.
