Raytheon Missile Systems of Tucson, Ariz., won




contracts totaling more than $100 million for development of the Davidโ€™s Sling antimissile




system for Israel, according to an Oct. 26 Raytheon press release.



Davidโ€™s Sling is a joint U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA)-Israel Missile Defense Organization system being developed to counter cruise and ballistic missiles with ranges up to 250 kilometers. A successful booster test of the system was conducted in February, and the first intercept test is scheduled to take place in 2010, U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Patrick Oโ€™Reilly, director of the MDA, told Congress in May.



Raytheon received two contracts from




Israeli government-owned Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd.: one to develop the Stunner interceptor for Davidโ€™s Sling, and another




to develop, produce and support the systemโ€™s firing unit, the release said
