The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) selected Greenbelt, Md.-based Emergent Space Technologies Inc. in November to spend an additional year providing cluster flight guidance, navigation and control algorithms and software for DARPAโ€™s System F6 program.

The program aims to demonstrate that clusters of wirelessly networked small satellites can be used to perform missions traditionally done by a single, larger standalone spacecraft.

Emergentโ€™s System F6 contract, awarded earlier this year, included a six-month base period and two one-year options for a total potential value of $6.7 billion.
