Elementary school students fromย Floridaย will talk live this week with the first Cuban-American astronaut to live and work aboard theย International Space Station. The Earth-to-space call will air live on NASA Television and the agency’sย website.
NASA astronautย Serena Auรฑรณn-Chancellorย will answer questions from students at The Mandelstam School inย South Miamiย atย 11:45 a.m. EST Friday, Dec. 7. Students and staff from St. Thomas Episcopal School, which is also inย South Miami, will attend. The diverse classes include Cuban-American students.

Linking students directly to astronauts aboard the space station provides unique, authentic experiences designed to enhance student learning, performance and interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Astronauts living in space on the orbiting laboratory communicate with NASA’s Mission Control Center inย Houstonย 24 hours a day through theย Space Network’sย Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS).
