Commercial remote sensing firm GeoEye of Dulles, Va., said April 24 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with geospatial solutions provider Rolta of Mumbai, India, to develop products and services for defense and homeland security customers in โ€œhigh-growth global markets, beginning with India.โ€

โ€œRolta has been engaged in providing geospatial solutions for over two decades,โ€ Preetha Pulusani, Roltaโ€™s chief strategy officer, said in a statement. โ€œImagery plays a critical role โ€” especially for defense and homeland security โ€” to enable users to rapidly analyze change, visualize impacts and make informed decisions in the field in a timely manner. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with GeoEye to provide our customers with tools and content to meet their most challenging needs.โ€

Rolta also plans to use GeoEye satellite imagery to develop commercial 3-D products for the urban planning, construction and infrastructure development markets.
