Globalstar Europe Satellites Services Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of mobile satellite services provider Globalstar of Covington, La., announced Jan. 3 that it has signed an authorized distribution agreement with Warsaw, Poland-based TS2 Satellite Technologies.
TS2 will act as a national distributor for Globalstar mobile satellite voice and two-way data products to Polandโs defense, government and private sectors via TS2โs established dealer channel.
Six new second-generation Globalstar satellites were launched Dec. 28 from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket. The mission marked the third successful launch of Globalstarโs second-generation satellites, which are designed to last for 15 years, twice as long as Globalstarโs first-generation satellites. The new satellites are needed to replace the original 48-satellite constellation that since 2007 has lost most of its ability to provide two-way voice links due to suspected radiation-caused degradation.
โAs we complete deployment of our second-generation constellation of satellites, we are delighted that TS2 has chosen to offer their customers Globalstarโs unique line-up of [mobile satellite services] voice and duplex data solutions,โ Jim Mandala, general manager of Globalstar Canada and Europe sales, said in a statement.
