Hughes Network Systems LLC of Germantown, Md., recently completed a demonstration of its advanced airborne video solution for a government agency, the company said in a July 26 press release.

Using an aircraft platform provided by Row 44 of Westlake Village, Calif., the Hughes airborne video solution delivered data rates of 2 megabits per second from the air and displayed high-resolution video on the ground, the release said. The airborne video system uses a commercial Hughes HX router and the HX ExpertNMS network management software.

โ€œOur airborne technology has advanced rapidly,โ€ Rick Lober, vice president of Hughesโ€™ defense and intelligence systems division, said in the press release. โ€œOur new airborne video solution features speeds five times greater than what is currently available โ€” delivering groundbreaking performance at an affordable cost.โ€
