According to South Koreaโs Yonhap news agency, the Koreaโs Naro-1 satellite launcher blew up 137 seconds after lifting off from the Naro Space Center June 10, marking the second failure in as many tries for the vehicle, whose first stage was built by Russia.
โMinister of Education, Science and Technology Ahn Byong-man told reporters that the Naro-1 space rocket appears to have blown up 137 seconds after it lifted off from a space center on the countryโs south coast.โ
The failure last August was attributed to the Naro 1โs fairing, which along with the vehicleโs second stage was built by South Korea. Russiaโs Khrunichev Space Center, builder of the liquid-fueled first stage, publicly exonerated its hardware after that incident. At last check the morning of June 10, Khrunichev had yet to issue a statement on the latest failure.
