MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (โ€œMDAโ€ or the โ€œCompanyโ€) (TSX:MDA), a global communications and information company, today announced that it has received a contract for CA$3.7 million from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) for NASAโ€™s OSIRIS-REx mission. MDA will provide operations engineering support for the CSAโ€™s contribution to the mission, the OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA) instrument, which will provide ranging and topographic data of the asteroid Bennu. It will allow scientists to create a high resolution 3D model of its surface. Launched in September 2016, OSIRIS-REx is planned to reach Bennu in late 2018.
