Stephanie OโSullivan was confirmed Feb. 18 by the U.S. Senate as Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapperโs principal deputy.
OโSullivan most recently was the associate deputy director at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which she joined in 1995 after working for the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Rep. C.A. โDutchโ Ruppersberger (D-Md.), the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, applauded OโSullivanโs confirmation, predicting she will be โa tremendous assetโ to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI.
Her confirmation came two days after President Barack Obama announced his intention to appoint former CIA Chief Information Officer Al Tarasiuk as the chief information officer of the intelligence community.
โAl is well known for his leadership in information sharing and intelligence integration, and his experience, distinguished career and dedication to duty will greatly benefit the entire Intelligence Community,โ Clapper said in a Feb. 16 statement.
