PARIS โ€” Satellite ground systems and Earth observation services provider Telespazio on Feb. 16 announced it had won six contracts worth a combined 112.1 million euros ($146 million).

The biggest of the contracts, valued at 86 million euros, is a five-year agreement with the French space agency, CNES, and launch services provider Arianespace to provide telemetry, control and telecommunications services for five years at Europeโ€™s Guiana Space Center spaceport.

Under a second contract, valued at 4 million euros, Telespazio will manage the spaceportโ€™s Diane tracking and telemetry station for the 19-nation European Space Agency (ESA).

Under a third contract, also with ESA and valued at 10 million euros over three years, Telespazio will provide logistics support for ESAโ€™s Estrack network of satellite tracking stations, as well as maintenance and operations of two of the facilities.

The fourth and fifth contracts were won by Telespazioโ€™s e-Geos Earth observation services subsidiary and valued at 9.6 million euros and call for e-Geos to provide the European Commission and European government authorities with maps and other geospatial information on areas affected by emergencies.

Under a sixth contract with Brazilian telecommunications operator Oi and valued at 2.5 million euros, Telespazio will provide a satellite backup network for the Banco do Brasil.

Telespazio said it had also signed two contracts with mobile satellite services provider Inmarsat of London. Under the first, Telespazio wil host a ground station for Inmarsatโ€™s Global Xpress Ka-band service at Telespazioโ€™s Fucino, Italy, facility. The second contract is a four-year extension of services for Inmarsatโ€™s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) L-band mobile satellite service, also from Fucino. Financial terms were not disclosed.
