China will take the first step toward building its own space station later this month with the launch of its unmanned Tiangong-1 space module, AFP reported.

A spokesman for the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center told AFP that Tiangong-1, which is slated to orbit the Earth for two years, will be launched between Sept. 27 and 30.

The launch originally was planned for 2010, but China postponed it for โ€œtechnical reasons.โ€
