Integral Systems Inc.โ€™s chief executive officer has been charged with two misdemeanor sex offenses.

Most of the news was contained in a seven-line notification sent Nov. 18 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Steven Chamberlain has been charged with a fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, the company notification said. Trial is scheduled for January 2006.

The notification said Chamberlain โ€œmaintains his innocence and has stated that he will vigorously fight the charges.โ€ The companyโ€™s board of directors has appointed a committee of independent directors to advise the company on the matter, the notification added.

โ€œThis is a personal matter for Steve and in no way affects our business. We continue to execute our contracts with our customers,โ€ Peter Gaffney, Integralโ€™s chief operating officer, said Nov. 21.

Integral builds satellite ground systems for command and control, integration and test, data processing and simulation.

Chamberlain faces up to a year in prison and up to $1,000 in fines if convicted.
