Los Angeles-based Northrop Grumman Corp. said Aug. 18 that it had completed an end-to-end ballistic missile defense system simulation in partnership with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
As the prime contractor at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Northrop Grumman led a team that planned and executed the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems Performance Assessment 2009. The simulation was designed to analyze how the U.S. ballistic missile defense system’s radars, communication networks and interceptors perform during scenarios.
“Through disciplined and rigorous integration and more than 2,500 test executions, we created a baseline configuration for 36 distinct scenarios,” Karen Williams, vice president of air and missile defense systems for Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector, said in a press release.
